Washington DC – The Council of Federal EEO and Civil Rights Executives is hosting the executive level Thought Leadership Conference on Diversity & Inclusion, Civility and Bias. The Council takes a leadership role in EEO, civil rights, affirmative action, and diversity issues affecting the Federal Government.
The focus of the conference is compliance with Executive Order 13583, which establishes a coordinated Government-wide initiative to promote Diversity and Inclusion in the federal sector, and strategies and best practices for Diversity and Inclusion within industry and other fields.
The Thought Leadership Conference identifies best practices for improving effectiveness in recruiting, hiring, promoting, retaining, developing, and training a diverse and inclusive workforce. The Executive Level Think Tank Roundtable discussions, workshops, and keynotes conducted by some of the nation’s top trainers, facilitators, and content experts, concentrate on identifying and reducing bias and challenging mindsets, while establishing goals for a world-class diverse workforce drawn from all segments of society.
Diversity and Inclusion are addressed by subject matter experts and thought leaders in the fields of HR, EEO, Bias, Human Capital Management, leadership, succession management, mentoring, coaching, retention, organizational change, and workplace incivility and bullying, with the goal of shifting personal and/or organizational culture to be more inclusive. Case studies are incorporated throughout the conference to enhance discussions on leadership, mentoring, recruiting, performance management, and other issues relevant to achieving sustainable change.
The 3-day conference begins on Monday, March 26 and concludes Wednesday, March 28, 2012. It will be held in midtown Manhattan, New York City. The conference objectives are to survey, explore, and reframe the opportunities and challenges to educate stakeholders, promote personal development, participate in dialogue with colleagues with multiple perspectives, and provide an opportunity to cross-pollinate ideas and lessons learned to foster organizational and personal Shifts in Focus.
The Executive Level Think Tank sessions provide participants a platform to gather and discuss challenges and opportunities with other leaders, and to come away with new best practices for achieving Diversity and Inclusion in the workplace.
Leaders, influencers, and visionaries in government, industry, nonprofits, and academia ready to move beyond themselves and the status quo are invited to attend.
Participants are presented with an official Certificate of Attendance and an e-book containing the Roundtable discussions and exchanges during the conference, including all recommended next steps for implementation.

About the Federal Council of EEO and Civil Rights Executives
Since 1993, the Council began its ongoing leadership role in EEO, civil rights, affirmative action, and diversity issues affecting the Federal Government. The Council presents issues of concern to the federal sector EEO community and serves as a catalyst for change to make existing processes better. By networking and sharing information and resources, the Council reduces the isolation of EEO professionals from each other, and within their own agencies.
The Council provides input to Congress, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Office of Personnel Management, the National Performance Review, and other federal agencies and organizations on issues affecting EEO and other civil rights issues in the federal sector and engages other civil rights organizations to find common ground on issues of importance to the EEO and civil rights communities in the federal sector.
